ChatGPT

Step-by-step guide to connect Screpy MCP as a custom app in ChatGPT.

Use this guide to connect Screpy MCP to ChatGPT on the web. Your ChatGPT workspace must allow custom MCP apps; managed workspaces may require an owner or admin to enable this feature first.

Use OAuth, not an API key

ChatGPT connects to Screpy through OAuth. Do not enter a Screpy REST API key.

Connect Screpy MCP to ChatGPT

Open Apps settings

In ChatGPT, open Settings or Workspace settings, then go to Apps. Enable developer mode if ChatGPT asks for it.

Create a custom app

Choose the option to add a custom app or custom MCP server. Give it the name Screpy.

Add the Screpy MCP server

Enter this server URL and select OAuth when ChatGPT asks how to authenticate:

https://mcp.screpy.com

Sign in to Screpy

Let ChatGPT scan the available tools. When the Screpy sign-in window opens, sign in and approve access to the correct account.

Test the connection in a new chat

Start a chat with Screpy enabled and ask:

Use Screpy to list my projects and summarize the latest completed crawl for each one.

If Screpy does not connect

Confirm that developer mode and custom apps are allowed in your workspace. Remove the incomplete app, create it again with the URL above, and complete OAuth in the same browser session. See Troubleshooting if the app connects but projects or tools are missing.
