An AI paragraph rewriter suggests a new way to express text you already have. Screpy takes one paragraph and returns one alternative draft, with choices for clarity or concision, tone and output language. Use it when the information is useful but the wording is difficult to follow, repetitive or unnecessarily long.
The aim is a clearer passage that still says what you intended. That is an editing goal, not a guarantee that every fact or qualification will survive. Compare the draft with the original before copying it into an email, article or page. The tool does not check plagiarism, certify authorship or verify claims against live sources.
Start with a paragraph that contains enough context
Paste the passage you want to edit into Original paragraph. The input accepts 40–2,000 characters, including spaces, rather than a specified number of words. Choose a coherent paragraph with the facts the rewrite needs. A pasted URL is not a request to read that page; the tool works on supplied text and does not fetch an article for you.
Include the subject behind pronouns such as “it” or “they” when the paragraph would otherwise be unclear. Preserve any condition that limits the claim: who it applies to, when something is available and whether a result is certain or merely possible. If essential context is in a neighboring sentence, include it within the input limit.
For longer material, select a complete passage rather than cutting text at an arbitrary character boundary. Do not add filler just to meet the minimum. A source can satisfy the length requirement but still be too vague or meaningless to rewrite usefully. If the result asks for more context, clarify the source before trying again. If generation fails, there is no completed draft to assess.
Choose clarity or concision, then the tone
Choose the editing goal according to the problem in your source. Both goals ask the AI to preserve the essential information, but they emphasize different changes.
| Editing goal | When it helps | What to check in the draft |
|---|---|---|
| Improve clarity | The point is useful, but sentences are awkward, crowded or difficult to follow. | The relationships between ideas are easier to understand without changing the claim. |
| Make concise | The paragraph repeats itself or uses more words than the explanation needs. | Repetition is removed without losing a condition, exception or necessary detail. |
Clarity does not require making every sentence shorter. Sometimes a short explanation needs another sentence to make its meaning clear. Likewise, Make concise is an instruction, not a promise that the result will always contain fewer words. Judge the edit by what remains understandable.
Open Options to select professional, conversational or persuasive tone, and the output language. A professional tone suits a neutral explanation; conversational wording can make a message more approachable; persuasive wording can make an existing benefit more direct. These are style choices. Persuasive does not mean the tool should invent an offer, remove uncertainty or add a claim the source cannot support. If that happens, edit or reject the draft.
Compare a rewrite that preserves the important details
Consider this fictional workshop announcement. Both versions below were written as an editing illustration, not recorded from a tool run.
Original:
Our community workshop is expected to run for 45 minutes and it is currently planned for Tuesday. A recording may be shared with registered attendees after the session, but this has not yet been confirmed.
Illustrative concise alternative:
The workshop is planned for Tuesday and expected to last 45 minutes. A recording may be shared with registered attendees afterward, but this is not confirmed.
The second version removes some unnecessary phrasing while keeping the conditions. Compare the details, not only the sentence lengths.
| Source detail | Meaning the rewrite must retain |
|---|---|
| Expected to run for 45 minutes | The duration is an expectation, not a fixed guarantee. |
| Currently planned for Tuesday | Tuesday is the plan, not an irrevocable commitment. |
| Registered attendees | The possible recording is for that audience, not everyone. |
| May be shared; not yet confirmed | Availability remains uncertain. |
A draft saying “All attendees will receive the recording” would change both the audience and the commitment. It could still contain 45 and Tuesday. A numbers check would not establish that the paragraph kept its meaning. This is why the AI paragraph rewriter gives you the original to compare, rather than a factual-accuracy certificate.
Understand the numbers-and-URLs warning
Screpy extracts numbers and HTTP or HTTPS URLs from the source and the draft, then compares those extracted values. A difference produces a warning. Repeated values matter too: losing one occurrence can trigger the check even when the same number still appears elsewhere.
Treat the warning as a reason to inspect the passages. A missing price, changed date or altered destination may be important. Formatting can also produce a difference without changing the underlying value, such as expressing a number in words or changing a decimal separator. Check what actually changed before accepting the rewrite; do not dismiss the message merely because it might be a formatting issue.
The check does not establish what a number refers to. It also cannot certify names, attribution, negation, cause and effect, or the difference between “may” and “will.” Those changes can matter more than a deleted numeral. In the workshop example, a promise to share the recording would still need correction even if every number matched.
Read the whole paragraph whether a warning appears or not. If the draft changes a material claim, restore its intended meaning or rewrite the source more clearly and try again. No warning is not proof that the draft is factually correct.
Review the output language and word counts
The AI paragraph rewriter supports English, Turkish, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Bengali and Hindi output. Choose the language in Options before submitting. A change of language still needs a meaning check: names, specialist terms, dates and degrees of certainty must remain appropriate for the intended reader.
Expand Show original paragraph beneath the draft to compare the source with the result. There is no need to remember every detail from the input. Read the versions together, especially when a smooth-sounding translation could conceal a missing exception.
The two word counts are calculated from the actual texts using language-aware segmentation. They are not an AI estimate or an editing-quality score. When the languages differ, their word counts are not a like-for-like measure of how much information survived. Even within one language, a smaller result can omit a necessary detail. Use the counts to notice a substantial change, then assess the passage itself.
Copy the draft after a final editorial check
Read the rewritten paragraph in the context where it will appear. An email, help article and product page can need different levels of explanation, even when they describe the same facts. Check these points before choosing Copy paragraph:
- The main point is clear, and references to people, products or previous sentences make sense.
- Names, dates, quantities, links and conditions agree with the source.
- Possibilities remain possibilities, and the draft adds no unsupported promise or causal claim.
- The tone fits the audience without hiding a limitation or exaggerating a benefit.
- Any borrowed ideas or quotations retain the attribution they need.
Rewording somebody else's material does not automatically make the underlying ideas yours. Purdue OWL's paraphrasing guidance explains the need to acknowledge sources even when using different words. Keep appropriate citations and check quoted wording against the original.
For a web page, clearer writing is useful when it helps the reader understand the subject. It does not by itself prove search performance or originality. Google's guidance on generative AI content emphasizes accuracy, quality and relevance. Review the draft as part of the page's editorial work rather than treating a rewrite as a ranking improvement.
Choose a different tool when the task changes. AI Content Summarizer condenses a longer source into key points; AI SEO Title Generator helps with page titles. For a paragraph that already contains the right information, keep the edit focused on making that information easier to read.
